„The sport I chose with its help has since become one of the most defining and dearest parts of my life."
In 2017, when I was 8 years old, my mother brought home the book “How to Choose a Sport.” While flipping through it, I saw the sport of diving. Back then, I found the pictures more interesting than the descriptions, but the page about diving captivated me so much that I immediately wanted to try it. Before that, I had tried other sports, but diving was unlike any of them.
That same year, in 2017, Budapest hosted the FINA World Championships. At my request, we went to watch a diving event live (the mixed synchronized event), with the agreement that if I truly liked it, I could start training in September. After seeing the competition in person, my enthusiasm didn’t fade, so I began attending diving training sessions that September at Hajós Alfréd Swimming Complex on Margaret Island, Budapest.
Later, we continued training at the newly built Duna Arena, under ideal conditions. What started as two training sessions per week eventually grew into five or six, and not long after, I began competing as well.
All the training and competitions paid off, as in November 2023 I was selected for the youth national team. I had the opportunity to participate in increasingly prestigious competitions both in Hungary and abroad. In 2025, I secured my place on the team for the 2025 European Junior Championships, where I competed in two events in Athens. It was an incredible experience to take part in such a high-level competition and compete against the best.
Diving means a great deal to me. I’ve gained countless experiences, travelled to different countries, made friends, and I’m still part of an exceptional community. The book “How to Choose a Sport” showed me a sport and set me on a path. The sport I chose with its help has since become one of the most defining and dearest parts of my life.
